Automation systems need maintenance, it is mostly the moving parts and sensitive parts such as switches, relays, valves, actuators, power supplies, and field sensors which need the most attention. The Controllers should be checked for heat stress as this ages them faster and the components start to fail sooner. Parts between systems are often interchangeable, often the systems use different scales, but similar voltages so a simple programming adjustment makes a non-proprietary part compatible.
